Olympic Glory

It’s Rio 2016 and to celebrate the Olympics this year we’ve resurrected another favourite one-way destination skate to the London 2012 Olympic Park!

The theme is national colours – so wear yours with pride!

The skate starts at Hyde Park corner and finishes at The Olympic stadium. Closest stations are Stratford or Hackney Wick, so make sure you bring some shoes and a payment card to get home 🙂

Richmond River Run

We kick off the summer season of one-way skates with a trip to one of our favourites – Richmond Park. This time there’s a twist. We won’t be taking the same route we’ve taken before, instead entering the park from a different entrance, and we won’t finish in the park, instead continuing for a little longer to get to the riverside where it’s both easier to get to the station and easier to get to the pub 🙂

Bring your shoes and oyster or contactless payment card to get the tube home!

Swing Low Sweet Chariot, Strollin’ for to carry me home!

Well, now I came to Hyde Park, and what did I see
Strollin’ for to carry me home
There was a band of skaters a comin’ after me
Strollin’ for to carry me home

Swing low, sweet Inline Skate
Strollin’ for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet Inline Skate
Strollin’ for to carry me home

Well, I’m sometimes up and I’m sometimes down
Strollin’ for to carry me home
But I know my skate is Twickenham bound
Strollin’ for to carry me home

Swing low, sweet chariot
Comin’ for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot
Comin’ for to carry me home

Well, now if you get there before I do
Comin’ for to carry me home
Tell all of my friends that I’m a comin’ too
Comin’ for to carry me home

Swing low, sweet chariot
Comin’ for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot
Comin’ for to carry me home
Well, now they’re comin’ for to carry me home

We went for gold at the Olympic Park. We made it to the FA cup final at Wembley, and now to celebrate the Rugby World Cup 2015, we’re aiming for some Webb Ellis glory at Twickenham Stadium!

So wear your rugby shirts, and if you don’t have rugby shirts, wear football shirts, or hockey shirts, or any other team or national colours! Let’s light up the streets of London on our way!

This will be a ONE-WAY skate to Twickenham Stadium where we will have a group photo, so bring your shoes, your oyster or contactless payment card and a big smile for the last one-way skate of the season!

Deer-spotting – Sunday Stroll One-Way to Richmond Park

After last month’s awesome one-way skate to Wembley Stadium, we thought we’d do something a little less industrial, so this Sunday we head towards an old favourite, Richmond Park.

In contrast to industrial estates, we will skate through leafy Barnes (where we have a half-time break), and finish up in Richmond where we hope to see some deer, and maybe some other wildlife. This is a one-way skate so bring your shoes and a contactless payment or oystercard to get back.

Wembley Stadium One-Way

We’ve been to the Olympic Park. We’ve been to Wimbledon, and now we’re going to Wembley!

The road to Wembley is a no walk (or skate) in the park. It’s full of ups and downs, twists and turns, and a stop or two thrown in for good measure.

Expect it to be tough. Getting to Wembley was never easy – just ask any football team – but we’ve done our best to remove any bumps in the road and make it as smooth a ride as we can. There are some difficult grade uphills and some nice smooth downhills

At the end we’ll have an epic group photo and there’s a retail park nearby where we can bask in triumphant glory. Bring shoes, and make sure you have an oyster or contactless payment card to get the tube home 🙂

Sunny Stroll

It’s normally bad luck to talk about the weather. Throwing caution to the wind, however, the warm weather that 2014 has gifted us appears to be stretching into something of an Indian Summer. So come and join us with all the usual sounds, sights and skaters this Sunday for a Sunny Stroll to Battersea Park.
