Friday 9th May - Hackney by Daylight

London Friday Night Skate

Pending

We've done it in the dark, and now we'll do it in broad daylight. Yes, the last time we did this route it was deep midwinter. This time spring is in the air and it should still be light when we arrive at our half time stop. While this probably means there will be no pretty lights adorning the trees, it also means we should be able to see Haggerston Park and London Fields in their full glory. Our freshly repaired and revamped Brox music bike will be joining us for the night. We rather hope you will too. If you don't want to go all the way, or maybe you even want to leave at half time, there are frequent trains from Hackney Downs to Liverpool Street, and more busses than you can shake a stick at. We meet at Hyde Park Corner at 7:45pm. Please don't be late, as we plan to leave at 8pm sharp.

Sunday 4th May - Dan Dares

This week lead marshal Dan dares to try again his famously freaky route to Parsons Green. The one he was going to do last Sunday until the weather forced all well behaved skaters to stay indoors. As was the case last week, we'll start from our usual place on Serpentine Road, and at our usual time of 2.00pm.

Friday 2nd May - Up the Arsenal

Yes my dears, it's time again to put on your red shirts ready for this week's LFNS, which takes us to the fabulous Emirates Stadium, home of the Arsenal. We always have fun skating around the stadium at half time, and if you need to get home early, perhaps to clean your balls ready for the big game on Sunday, well, the nearest tube is Arsenal, just up the road. After experiencing a bent track rod (nasty), and then a snapped spoke, our very own Firebrox will make a welcome return, steering straighter and running smoother than ever before. Ridden by Jim and mixes by A Toon Too Far, da music may yet put a stop to all that. The route has some gentle hills, so as always on a street skate, you must be able to stop and turn yourself safely. We aim to leave promptly at 8pm, so check the route map to find a meeting point if you think you might be late.

Sunday 27th April - Where's Walham? (Route)

Friday 25th April - Going West

This Friday will see lead marshal Bren taking us Westward Ho! The skate starts with a moderate blue and the second half is a stiffish black but there's a beginners' green at half time. Yes, folks, we're going to Turnham Green and back. We aim to start promptly at 8.00. See you then.

Sunday 20th April - Waterloo Stop Skate

This week's Sunday Stroll will follow in the footsteps of Friday's Benny Hill skate (look out for discarded items of clothing!), going to Waterloo and, in contrast to Napoleon, coming back from it (he never really came back, no?). Waterloo might also feature in the soundtrack. Consider yourself warned.

Friday 18th April - Benny Hill

It's 16 years since Benny Hill died - and in his memory we shall zigzag like mad through London, running after the person at the front. You know the Dress Code, ok? The soundtrack will be a new Crimes Against Music mix, including Yackety Sax, the theme tune to every Benny Hill chase scene, ever. You'll know it when you hear it.

Sunday 13th April - Walham Green (Route)

Friday 11th April - Best of London

FRIDAY's route takes in lots of tourist landmarks, so bring you camera and take lots of motion-blurred photos of Big Ben, Piccadilly Circus, the London Eye and the views over the Thames. This is "red" (intermediate) pace throughout - there is no black section, so if you've been doing the Stroll comfortably and wonder if you'd manage an LFNS ,this is a good one to start with.

Sunday 6th April - Mind that torch! (Route)

Friday 4th April - Clapham Old Town

British summer time has begun, which means light nights, no to snow and yes to melted chocolate. In celebration of all this the LFNS is heading down south to Clapham Old Town for something unusually common. The 10 mile route is popular with regular skaters because it has a couple of gentle downhill sections for sprinting. But the hills really are gentle, so the more restrained skaters could easily hang around at the back and control their speed with some light heel brake action. A suitable musical accompaniment from a Toon Too Far will flow unrestrained from the box of Brox, ridden by Jim the moving mix meister.

Sunday 11th May - And is there snow still in Victoria?

Sunday Stroll

Pending

This is the route that was snowed off on the day the Olympic Torch hit town. We still intend to wander aimlessly around Belgravia and Victoria, this time hoping to find some Sun

NEWS

Easter Eggstrvaganza is Here!

It's that time of year again and the Easter Eggstrvaganza is back. Four days of fun filled skating events starting with the LGFNS, loads of free lessons, the infamous Bunny Stroll. a party and the now legendary Egg & Spoon Race on Monday. See the website for more details.

Stroll on film

Our friends from FSTarragona recently attended a Sunday Stroll and took some video footage. They've kindly allowed us to post the video here.

SantaSkate

What can we say? This year's SantaSkate was a huge success. Almost 500 skaters from around the world descended on London, put on their Santasuit/fairylights/christmastree costumes and skated around London for a few hours whilst partying down to some classic Christmas cheese and some dodgy German techno Christmas carols. According to one lovely Scottish lady, she was surprised, and impressed to find that the German techno artists got the words right to Auld Lang Syne - something of a rarity south of the border. There are too many pictures and video links to post them all here, but checkout the official thread on SerpentineRoad.

We're on Facebook

Over 250 of you have already started using our application. If you're an avid Facebook user and you want to keep up to date with the status of the coming skates each week then try out the new Facebook LFNS Skate Updates App.

Donations

The LFNSTM is STILL not asking for money over the web. If we were, it would say so here. But we aren't.

However, due to popular demand, we have created a donations account, whereby one off payments or regular contributions can be made, finally removing the need for our regular contributors to use cheque books and hard cash. Contact us if you require further details.

As always if you give money to anyone else claiming money on behalf of the regular Friday and Sunday streetskates in London it is not going to the LFNSTM. If in doubt just come and ask one of the marshals to point you in the right direction.

T-shirts

It's cold, it's dark, it's Winter! So why on earth would you want to buy a t-shirt? But if you do a limited number of official LFNSTM t-shirts are still available: get one now before the weather gets warm again.

WAP Update Service

Sometimes you can't get near a computer to find out whether the skate is on or not. We know, it's a nuisance.

So now you can use WAP to find out! Go to wap.lfns.co.uk on your Mobile to see if we're going or whether the weather has beaten us.

We don't charge for this service - normal WAP connection costs apply.
