One-way (Destination): One Way to Crystal Palace
12:00am, Sunday 7th August 2011
Starting at: East end of Serpentine Road
Half time at: Wherever...
Length: 13.5 miles.
Lead marshal: Markus
Asbox Transmitter: No
Skate status: Rained Off
This weekend we’ll take you to see the Dinosaurs in Crystal Palace park, and we won’t come back. No, not because of the Dinosaurs, but because this is a one-way skate. The local station runs trains to Victoria and London Bridge, plus the London Overground to Canada Water and Highbury&Islington, so coming back should not be too much of a problem, even for those who prefer not to skate back!
This is a slighly longer than ususal route, so if you’ve never been on a Sunday Stroll before then this might not be the moment for your first attempt … the speed will be the same, but the skate will be longer, and the route will be a tad more demanding than usual. We expect to be there within 3h or less, with one or two stops (this depends on the weather, how quickly the skate moves, and on the availability of the shops) along the way. Heck, we might stop 3 times if we feel like it!
Also, for those who took part in the previous skates to this destination – please note that we’ve found a clever new route, which avoids the massive hill, and takes the skate into the lower part of the park (where the Dinos are, for those who know their way around Crystal Palace park).
PLEASE NOTE – Due to the London Triathlon our normal start spot is not accessible, and we’ll meet at the bottom of Hyde Park Corner instead: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=51.502225,-0.150719&z=16
