== THIS WEEK ==

The LONG GOOD FRIDAY NIGHT SKATE this week is a game of three
halves. Friday's a public holiday, so we have an earlier start time of
7pm on Serpentine Road (where the Stroll usually leaves from). Then we
have a short loop around town taking in some of the sights before
returning to Hyde Park Corner for 8 to pick up latecomers, and off
again for the regular LFNS. Which is off to the Tower and back, via
some of London's most famous tourist sights: Piccadilly, Oxford St,
Regents St, Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, the Tower of London, The Eye
and the Gherkin, it's all here. Halftime in Spitalfields.

Remember: 7PM, or you'll miss the first hour's skating.

Afterwards, some us will be heading up to ROLLERDISCO at Canvas,
King's Cross. They're giving us discounted entry to this popular
venue. We'll be announcing a secret code before and during the LGFNS,
which you'll need to quote in order to take up the offer.

Sunday's BUNNY STROLL takes us on a relaxed, scenic jaunt around Soho,
Waterloo and Westminster, with half time at Trafalgar Square. The
FireBrox will be dressed up, and we hope you will too, because we've
got skate vouchers from Prolineskates to give away to the best
costumed skaters.

As if that wasn't enough, RED BULL will be stopping along the route to
provide us with refreshments, and our Easter Bunny will be handing out
chocolatEy treats to good boys and girls. On our return, Lisa and her
fellow quad dancers will be wowing us with their moves, before we move
on to the party at The Vic for 6:30pm.

== PRIZES - AND YOUR CHANCE TO BUY A BUNNY BOILER ==

Thanks to Prolineskates we're giving away prizes to the best costumed
adult and child skater on the Bunny Stroll- vouchers for £100 and £75
respectively. How to be in the running? Well, either you wear and
accessorise one of our costumes or you buy your own. A reminder that
we've negotiated 20% off at Ace Fancy Dress. Check out the Easterskate
website for the special voucher code you'll need to quote to get your
discount.

                               http://www.easterskate.co.uk/stroll.php

Bunny boiler (suits), ears and (while stocks last) noses, are on sale
now. It'll set you back £5, or £3 if you just want the ears. Hand over
the cash to one of our bunny marshals, collect after the LGFNS, or at
The Vic from 11:30 to 13:45 on Easter Sunday.

Need to accessorise your costume? Fashionista Saffy has some
suggestions on Serpentine Road.

USELESS FACTS ABOUT RABBITS (No. 3 in a series): Bunnies are not
native to the UK - they were introduced by the Normans who enjoyed
hunting them.

== LAST WEEK ==

RAIN ON FRIDAY

No surprises there, then. Still, it's a great route, and we'll look
forward to Edd running it again soon.

SUN ON SUNDAY STROLL SHOCK!!

Naturalists gathered on Serpentine Road last Sunday as the brilliant
sunshine brought hundreds of 'Skaterens Rollerafidae' out of their
winter hibernation. Soon after 2.00, the little creatures gathered
into a long line that wound its way out of the safety of the Park and
into the wide world beyond. They explored this way and that, obviously
trying to familiarise themselves with Piccadilly and the West End
after their long winter sleep.

These attractive creatures, many already sporting the long ears and
whiskers that make them so noticeable at Easter, paused to eat and
drink near Russell Square before heading back to the Park to rest and
gather their strength for the Easter Eggstravaganza.

See you then, bunny watchers!

Congratulations to Kai Ng, and to father and son team Mark and Spike
who all completed their first Stroll last week.

USELESS FACTS ABOUT RABBITS (No. 4): With their long legs, jackrabbits
can leap up to 20 feet and reach speeds of 30-35 mph!

And a bunny crossword. Warning, this one's a stinker (thanks Helen!)

===EASTER SATURDAY===

Celebrate what is expected to be a sunny Easter Saturday by joining
one of the taster sessions covering almost every aspect of skating
from first steps to fancy slalom footwork.

For those who have started skating or want to improve their skills no
fewer than four of London's leading ICP skate schools are offering
FREE DROP-IN CLASSES on Saturday afternoon. These will be running from
3.00 to 5.00pm at the Hyde Park Corner end of Serpentine Road. Like it
says in the name, just drop in. Look for instructors from SKATEFRESH,
SKATESCOOL, INLINE SCHOOL and SKATEINSTRUCTOR.COM.

For skaters who fancy trying something more adventurous, LONDONSKATERS
FREESTYLE CLUB are running a drop-in workshop (that's like a drop-in
lesson but with attitude) at the Beach End of Serpentine Road (near
the Triangle Car Park). They'll be there during the afternoon. Look
out for the people jumping and sliding and doing amazing things with
cones and ask them to show you how to do them too.

INTRODUCTION TO STREET HOCKEY. 'Hello, Street Hockey, this is Nervous
First Time Player. Nervous First Time Player, this is Street Hockey.'
Now you've been introduced it's time to get down to the user-friendly
version of ice hockey. It's fast, it's furious and it's nowhere near
as scary as it looks. Nice people will take time out from hitting each
other with sticks to explain how you can join in. Just turn up at the
Albert Memorial from 2.00 to 3.00 pm and you'll be loaned a stick and
shown how to hit things with it. Just remember that the thing you're
supposed to hit is the ball.

TOO GOOD FOR ALL THAT? Know it all already? Want to take the first
steps toward teaching others? LONDON SKATE PATROL is looking out for
new recruits. Turn up at the boathouse on Serpentine Road between 2.00
and 3.30 pm and start training.

There's got to be *something* there to amuse you. Go on! Hop to it!

Q: What's a rabbit's favourite book? Warren Peace.

===FAMILY FUN FOR ALL ON MONDAY===

Monday is a great day to bring out the kids - though there should be
plenty to keep Mum and Dad amused as well.

For those new to skating, London Skate Patrol will be offering simple
training in 'How To Stop', showing beginner skaters how to use their
heel brakes. Look out for them in their red T-shirts, hanging around
near the boat sheds on Serpentine Road. They'll be there all afternoon
and, if you don't keep them busy, they annoy the swans.

Skate Patrol are so anxious to make new friends that they've even
organised a Treasure Hunt in association with Club Blue Room. Like all
the Easter Eggstravaganza events, this is FREE with chocolatey prizes
for everyone (and more exciting, fizzier prizes for some of the
grown-ups). Just pull up alongside the boat sheds (demonstrating your
newfound confidence in your heel-braking skills), tell them that
you're Bugs Bunny, and bug them till you get an entry form.

There may even be a SuperSkater competition for some of the more super
skaters, but they're so busy practicing their cunning stunts that we
haven't been told where or when yet. If you're on Serpentine Road on
Monday afternoon, though, you won't miss it.

Monday will also see the Lesser Spotted Egg and Spoon Race on
Serpentine Road ... expect a few "challenges" to be thrown into the
mix. It's not going to be as simple as skating from A to B (there are
cones to dodge and hoops to go through), but there's a bottle of
bubbly in it for the winning team! Check the Easterskate site or Bunny
Blog over the weekend for times.

== LONDONSKATE CALLING ==

The clocks have gone forwards, the evenings are getting lighter, and
people are starting to go to the park in the evenings again. It must
be nearly LondonSkate season.

Our Wednesday friends are even now rousing themselves from winter
torpor, rubbing their eyes and yawning, and will be starting
officially on April 18th - that's two weeks from when you get
this. 7:30pm by the bandstand on Serpentine Road, for an 8pm
departure.

In the meantime, they'll be flyering and promoting the skate during
the Easter weekend events, so look out for that.
